Dr. Waseem Allabban is a board-certified rheumatologist with over a decade of experience providing expert, compassionate care to patients in Chandler and the surrounding communities.
Education and Training
Dr. Allabban earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2000 from the University of Damascus, one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the Middle East. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, where he developed a strong foundation in comprehensive patient care.
Following residency, Dr. Allabban joined Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center (now Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix) as a hospitalist, managing acutely ill patients in a high-volume, academic hospital setting. This role deepened his clinical skills and broadened his experience with complex medical cases.
Driven by a passion for autoimmune diseases and musculoskeletal medicine, Dr. Allabban pursued fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), completing his fellowship in 2014. While at KUMC, he trained under several nationally recognized leaders in the field:
- Professor Mehrdad Maz, Program Director at KUMC and previously affiliated with the Mayo Clinic
- The late Professor Herbert Lindsley, a renowned clinician and educator in rheumatology
- Dr. Jason Springer, who joined KUMC from the Cleveland Clinic Vasculitis Center
- Dr. John Martinez, an expert in complex systemic autoimmune disease management
